Quote expiration dates and limited-time pricing with a countdown
In forquotez you set a quote expiration date when you save the quote, and the buyer sees a live countdown on the share page. You can also add a limited-time discount with its own deadline. When that deadline passes, the price returns to the regular rate automatically.

Two deadlines, two jobs
forquotez has two separate time limits. They are easy to confuse, and they do different things.
| Quote expiration | Limited-time discount | |
|---|---|---|
| What it limits | How long the whole quote is valid | How long a special price is available |
| What the buyer sees | A countdown timer on the quote | A banner with the savings amount and its own countdown |
| At the deadline | The quote status becomes Expired | Prices revert to the standard rate |
| Where you set it | The save panel, on any quote | The save panel, on Professional and Enterprise plans |
A quote expiration date protects you from honoring stale pricing. A limited-time discount gives the buyer a clear reason to decide by a date, and still leaves a valid quote behind if they miss it.
How you set them on a live call
Both are set in the runner's save panel, at the end of the conversation while the buyer is still with you.
- Quote expires: pick a date, or leave it blank for no expiration.
- Limited-time discount: toggle it on and enter a title, a description, a deadline and a discount amount.
Because you set these in live presentation mode, the deadline is something you said out loud and the buyer agreed to hear. It is not a surprise in the fine print of an emailed PDF.
The limited-time discount is applied at the very end of the calculation, on top of the final total, after per-line, package, cart and billing cycle discounts.
What the buyer sees on the share page
If the quote has an expiration date and your organization has the countdown timer turned on, the public share page shows a live countdown. Its color changes as the deadline gets closer:
- Green: plenty of time remaining.
- Amber: approaching expiration.
- Red: expiring soon.
An active limited-time discount gets a separate banner showing the savings amount and a countdown to when pricing reverts.
After a quote expires, the share link still loads. Instead of pricing, it shows a notice with the rep's contact information, so the buyer can ask for an updated quote. Voided quotes behave the same way.
Sample walkthrough: an end-of-quarter offer
An example with made-up companies and made-up figures: Ridgeview Telecom (fictional) quotes a phone system to Ashby Property Group (fictional) on October 14.
- The agreed price is $3,000 per month. The buyer needs sign-off from a partner who is traveling.
- The rep sets the quote to expire on November 14.
- She toggles on a limited-time discount titled "October sign-on offer" with a deadline of October 31 and enters the discount amount they discussed.
- She saves. The share page shows the discounted price, a banner with the savings and a countdown to October 31, plus the expiration countdown in green.
- The partner opens the link on October 29. The rep gets a view notification and the banner shows two days left.
If Ashby signs by October 31, they get the offer price. If they open the link on November 3, the banner is gone and the quote shows the regular $3,000 per month, still valid until November 14. After that date the status changes to Expired, and the rep can clone the quote to issue a fresh one.
What it replaces and what it pairs with
This replaces the "valid for 30 days" line that nobody enforces, and the follow-up email reminding a buyer that a price is about to lapse. The page keeps the time for you, and the price change happens whether or not anyone remembers.
Expiration ties into the rest of the product. Expired is one of the tracked quote statuses, and a "Quote expired" entry is added to the activity timeline on the linked contact and deal. Because a saved quote is a frozen snapshot, an expired quote stays on record exactly as it was offered.
If you want help wording the deadline in your follow-up, the free quote expiration message generator drafts it for you.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when a quote reaches its expiration date?
The quote status changes to Expired. The share link still opens, but it shows a notice with the rep contact details instead of pricing, so the buyer can request an updated quote.
What happens when a limited-time discount deadline passes?
Prices revert to the standard rate automatically and the discount banner no longer applies. The quote itself stays valid until its own expiration date.
Is limited-time pricing available on every plan?
No. Limited-time discounts are available on the Professional and Enterprise plans. Quote expiration dates are part of saving any quote.
Do I have to set an expiration date?
No. Leave the expiration field blank when you save and the quote has no expiration.
Can I turn the countdown off?
Yes. The expiration countdown appears only when your organization has the Show countdown timer setting enabled.
Can I reissue a quote after it expires?
Yes. Clone the expired quote to reopen the runner with the same line items, term and credits, adjust what you need, and save it as a new quote with a new date.
